Join Cecil Young and me as we delve into the heart of Schley County, Georgia, on a poignant quest to find the lost grave of Sgt. William Blanton Stewart Sr., a valiant Revolutionary War soldier who began his service at just 15 years old. Born in 1762 in Hanover County, Virginia, Sgt. Stewart's life was a testament to early American resilience and bravery, having served under several commanders and witnessed the historic surrender of Cornwallis at Yorktown.

After moving through various counties in Georgia post-war, he applied for a pension while living in Monroe County, which provides us with rich details of his service and later life. Tragically, his final resting place in the old Stewart-Ravens cemetery, once marked by the Daughters of the American Revolution in 1908, remains unlocated, likely due to the theft of his marker. Despite this setback, our exploration of the cemetery uncovers several pre-Civil War graves that paint a vivid picture of early American settlement and plantation life.

This journey is not only a search but a tribute to Sgt. Stewart's enduring legacy, exploring the deep roots of American history and the mysteries that time often conceals. Stay tuned as we explore these forgotten historic sites, attempting to reconnect with our nation's past. Join us in this reflective journey into the echoes of early America.
