People of Leh and Kargil held a joint protest in Jammu on Jan 15, demanding statehood for the Union Territory, and safeguards for the people of the region under the Sixth Schedule of the Indian Constitution, Their other demands included the formation of PSC and reservation of jobs for the youth of Ladakh and the creation of two separate parliamentary constituencies for Leh and Kargil.
