This hairstyle is essentially a variation of an undercut and I see it as an improved version of it. Sides and lower back hair are trimmed short and the top hair is left to grow however long you want it. This hairstyle focuses your eyes on the crown and top hair, giving you the effect of a longer face. You can also get a two block haircut that is short, medium, or longer in length. My hair right now is at the medium to longer side as I've been growing out the top of my hair for a few months now and just shaving the sides and lower back hair myself. A two block hairstyle will also give you a mushroom and coconut look, which people may point out.
This hairstyle first became popular in Korea and often see in Korean dramas. Korean idols (kpop idols) are also often seen rocking this hair. This hairstyle has sort of became trending in Asia and spread to North America and beyond. Now everywhere I go, I would always see Asians and even some non-Asians rocking this haircut. You can wear this haircut as in without any hair products or use light hair products to shape your hair the way you want it. People also perm it you create that wavy look. Dyeing the two block haircut will also elevate your look and make you look like someone from a korean drama.
As for myself, I like wearing this hair simply as in with little to no hair products. Usually I would just blowdry it and sometimes add a tiny bit of wax just to mold my hair into that desired look. There's a reason the two block haircut became popular. It's just so versatile to style however you want it, with or without hair fringe, curly or not curly depending if you want to perm, different type of hair length all based on personal preference.
