"Boakibanbaa" is a celebration of creativity and tradition, inspired by a traditional sport once played by both women and men during Eid. Known as "Boakibaa foruvun," this game marked the beginning of Eid celebrations. On the first morning of Eid, women would rise early to prepare "Eid Boakibaa," a special traditional snack for breakfast. Meanwhile, the men would attempt to steal these treats from the kitchens where the women hid them. If the women successfully brought the Boakibaa to breakfast, they won; otherwise, the men would triumph by stealing and eating the snacks. This song beautifully captures the essence of women's Boakibanbaa. It tells the story of Kanbulo, a five-year-old girl experiencing her first Boakibanbaa. Her sisters teach her all the activities involved, from making the Boakibaa to protecting it from the men of the island, through poetry and joyful celebrations. The song is inspired by "Boakibaa Bandhi," a traditional poetry sung by women during Boakibanbaa. This poetry serves to keep their spirits high and motivation strong. This is just the first battle of Boakibanbaa, and the men will continue their playful attempts to win until sunrise. Vocal: Mariyam Ashfa Melody and Lyrics: Abdulla Shahid (Teddy) Music production: Ehkaafu Studio (Munaz) Videography and Editing: Ibrahim Sujau (Junky)
