Tinea versicolor or also called as pityriasis versicolor is a superficial fungal infection of the skin and it usually occurs when we sweat a lot. So it is seen on the neck areas or the upper trunk sometimes rarely on the face and the hands as well. Being a superficial fungal infection there are chances of it transmitting from one person to other as we. So the treatment of it was the selenium sulphide which was used in the earlier days. Antifungal soaps are available. They usually contain ketoconazole or selenium sulphide. Selenium sulphide is also available in lotion formulations or shampoo based solution. So you just need to apply and wash it off. Then ketoconazole in the lotion formulation is also available. You can also try clotrimazole in the lotion formulation. Usually cream should be available because the cream based helps the fungus to thrive.
