US President Joe Biden is
US President Joe Biden is holding firm on his plans to complete his Afghanistan withdrawal by August 31, rejecting requests from other Western allies to have it extended.
In an address to the nation, Mr Biden said that the US had evacuated more than 70,000 people from Kabul since August 14 and that they were on track to meet that deadline.
This will only be possible if the Taliban continues to facilitate the swift exit of Afghan allies, Special Immigrant Visa applicants and foreign nationals.
