3rd June 1983
Just before the start of the 3rd cricket world cup – named as the Prudential World cup.
The leading monthly cricket magazine at the time decided to put out an article predicting the outcome of the world cup.
This article written by the founder and editor of wcm itself- David frith, took particular aim at India – writing
If India’s pride is not important enough to spur them to wholehearted effort this time, they might as well give way to other would-be participants in 1987.”
India would eventually exit the tournament early  & Unless India could adapt to one day format, they should perhaps withdraw their names from the next editions of the esteemed tournament.
Ending the article with - he would be happy to eat his words if India progressed beyond the league stage.

And so the die was cast – what happened next has become a folklore in cricket.
From a young captain who was to lead a young team to glory – Kapil dev
To that team’s manager – PR man singh
To the entire team that broough about the miracle of 1983
This is the story that happened in the background…..

When people said things and then were held accountable for it
Inspiring as well as funny,
This is the story of the worth of a man
