"Gait training for walking
Gait training can be given for minimum 10 minutes for TKR patients. Most importantly we have to see that proper support is given from all the directions like we have to support the pelvis. Patient should hold the walker giving full weight on the walker. Walker should be placed forward first and then the unaffected leg should be placed forward giving full weight and then slowly drag but heel should be first and followed by the toe.
Gait training for climbing staircase
So in this condition to train staircase climbing we have to be very assured that from every direction support should be there. Or else there may be a chance to fall. So patient should support the railing with the right hand and I will be supporting the patient from the left and also with my hand I will be supporting behind. So I will be asking the patient to place the unaffected leg first. Full weight should be bearing with the unaffected leg and then slowly affected leg should be lifted.
