This is a video of the Grainlander heritage train tour from Melbourne to Wycheproof and Sea Lake in north western Victoria. This tour took place between the 7th May and 9th May 2021 as a two night weekend tour. This tour was originally meant to be steam hauled using R class steam locomotive R 707 however last minute locomotive issues required a swap to diesel locomotives.

Wycheproof is a wheat growing community and is located 276 km north west of Melbourne Victoria and has a population of 610 people and is serviced by Vline coach services 6 times a week. The town is famous for being the only place in Victoria with a street running railway in the main street and is also home to the world's shortest mountain. Mount Wycheproof at 148 meters tall.

Sea Lake is a wheat growing community and is located 351 km north west of Melbourne Victoria and has a population of 619 people and is serviced by Vline coach services 6 times a week. Sea Lake is famous for Lake Tyrrell a large salt lake about 20 km from Sea Lake town that is extremely popular with photographers due to its pink colour and dark night skies.

The Grainlander tour was hauled by 3 vintage diesel locomotives these were A Class A 66, S Class S 306 and H Class H 5.

A Class diesel locomotive A 66 was built by Clyde Engineering of Granville NSW in 1952 originally as B 66 for the former Victorian Railways and was later refurbished as A 66 by Clyde Engineering of Rosewater South Australia in 1984 where it remained in service with Vline until 2019.

S Class diesel locomotive S 306 was built by Clyde Engineering of Granville NSW in 1969 for the former Victorian Railways. In later years S 306 went into in service with Pacific National where it remained a working freight locomotive  until it was retired in 2023 where it was transferred to 707 operations for preservation.

H Class diesel locomotive H 5 was built by Clyde Engineering of Granville NSW in 1957 for the former Victorian Railways. The locomotive is privately owned by Colin Rees and the Ettamogah Railway Hub and is leased to 707 Operations for heritage tours.

The Grainlander train consisted of a mixture of historic sitting, lounge and sleeping cars. The actual carriages used on the tour train are listed as follows: BZ 270, BRS 224, NAM 2336, LAN 2354, Club Victoria, BK 708, SJ 284, JTA 6 and Wando.

The Grainlander heritage train tours are operated by 707 Operations based at Newport Workshops in Melbourne Victoria.

707 Operations is a volunteer based railway preservation group that was founded in 1980 for the purpose to restore and operate R Class steam locomotive R707. Today the group operates premium steam and diesel weekend rail tours throughout regional Victoria.
