If your smartphone doesn't support the dual partition system (like the Galaxy Note 10) then you'll need to get a bit more creative if you want to retain root access after installing an OTA update.

That is, unless you have a compatible version of TWRP installed.

See, LineageOS recommends you use Lineage Recovery to install the ROM on your phone. But this recovery doesn't support decrypting of user data when installing an OTA update.

This means we have to sideload the Magisk zip file after installing said OTA update. So in this video I walk you through how to install that new LineageOS update while also keeping root access and all the modules you have installed.

Full Tutorial

1. Intro [00:00]
2. Download latest update [01:45]
3. Tap the "Install" button when ready [02:45]
4. Wait for the update to be installed [03:50]
5. Check if root was maintained [05:05]
6. Reboot to Recovery Mode [05:16]
7. ADB Sideload the Magisk ZIP file [06:05]
8. Reboot back to Android [07:48]
