After having played and archived
After having played and archived Gears of War Judgment it is finally time that we arrive at the original Gears of War. This game still holds up and is an all time classic that had a huge impact on third person action games in general. Though there had been games before with cover mechanics, it was the smooth iteration and blueprints of this game that still get copied today with modern games that utilize cover mechanics of their own.
But the action itself is also immensily satisfying with some great buildup and storytelling. As mentioned before I was a bit dissapointed with Judgement since that game really did not have any buildup or moments of rest. But in Gears of War there are various moments when you just can take in the scenary and experience the awesome atmosphere. There is time to breathe which is great.
Since this is the PC version the game graphically also looks a lot better than the original and even has some extra content with a new boss fight. It was an absolute blast from the past to experience this timeless masterpiece again and I cannot wait to revisit the sequel next!
