If you need to replace
If you need to replace your 1978 through 1982 hood latch-to-latch cable, this is the video you must watch.
Installation is straightforward, but depending on the cable you get, you may need a spacer to avoid a BIG headache.
If you have the broken pieces of the original cable, you may be able to repair it by gluing the pieces back together with super glue and activator.
If you do not use the spray activator, the repair will not last. I provided a link below but you can usually find these products at most big-box or hardware stores.
Alternatively, you can repurpose the cable—provided it operates freely—using it as an emergency passenger-side hood latch release. That is also covered in the video.
