Kevin Barry was 18 years of age when he was executed in Kilmainham Jail in November,1920.He was the first republican executed by the British since the Easter 1916 leaders.His execution caused outrage and dramatically increased tension in the Irish War for Independence.Because of his refusal to inform Kevin Barry became an icon for Irish Republicans.A very famous ballad has been credited to Kevin Barry.However,this alternate  song 'Kevin Barry',featuring Tom Dunphy, was released by the great Royal Showband in 1964.This video presentation is for educational purposes and social commentary only.No copyright infringement is intended.
