What went Wrong with The Crew Motorfest?

Almost a decade since Ubisoft launched The Crew Seires, the third installment is finally here. with a change in direction to make the games play and look as similar as the Forza Horizon series, so the inevitable question arises: is this a true competitor to Forza Horizon or is it another boring copy paste of the Horizon formula?
