How to strip Cast Iron pans & re-season

This easy lye method requires no scrubbing at all. Lye must be diluted & protective gear must be worn to prevent splashback. Lye is a natural occurring element made from wood ash. Its caustic properties deplete the more water is added, making it safe to pour down your drain (city systems only, no septics). If you do have a septic, simply add another 5 gallons of water to the mixture & compost the leftover liquid.
