A short demonstration on how to tin a new soldering tip, why tinning the soldering iron tip is important, and how to clean up an older soldering iron tip. This is useful information for the Engineer, Technologist, Technician, or Hobbyist. Without a properly tinned soldering iron tip you will not achieve good heat transfer from the soldering iron to the the item you wish to solder. Also a dirty iron tip will transfer the unwanted particles to the item that is soldered creating a poor solder joint.
