See horses waiting for homes here - bit.ly/2M72rAh Alicia, who arrived at our Belwade Farm Rescue and Rehoming Centre in 2016. She was underweight, infested with lice, unhandled and very wary of humans. Thanks to the dedication of her groom, who gave this nervous 13.3hh black cob the patience and expert handling she needed, Alicia grew in confidence, learnt to trust people and in 2018 joined our rehoming scheme. That summer Tasha Webb was looking for a companion for her own horse and the team at Belwade introduced her to Alicia, who at 7 years old was unbacked, but had lots of potential. Tasha takes up the story: “Alicia took a couple of months to fully settle in with us and find her feet, as she was still a bit nervous about life. However, she’s really blossomed as her confidence has grown and it’s lovely that her cheeky character is starting to come out now. Her party trick is reversing up to people to ask for tail scratches, which is very funny!” Thanks to Tasha’s commitment to continue Alicia’s education, this gutsy little cob has qualified for the 2020 Traditional Gypsy Cob Association national championship and Tasha will be backing her to ride in the coming months.
