Krakatoa (Krakatau)… a fierce volcano
Krakatoa (Krakatau)… a fierce volcano that stands in the middle of the Sunda Straits of the Java Sea. If Lord Of The Rings was filmed in Indonesia, this would be Mordor…
Just slightly over 100 years ago… this volcano unleashed hell into earth… destroying hundreds of villages around Sumatra and West Java… taking the lives of tens of thousands. Dark clouds covered the sky as far as Japan for many days… which came from hell through one of its doors which is called Krakatoa. Since then… the volcano has been sleeping quietly… and the Javanese keeps praying so that it will never wake up again.
But now another volcano appeared… Child of Krakatoa (Anak Krakatau) which is active, making small eruptions once every 10-15 minutes or so. Sitting nearby, I witness 2 small eruptions just before I even finished my coffee. It was indeed spectacular. Nuclear bomb on steroids…
