Elon Musk Announced ALL-NEW Technology on Model Y Juniper 2025. What Happened?
Why the hell have manufacturers intentionally chosen not to use these new tires, I don't really understand it, because there's a huge number of benefits to these new tires that Tesla apparently are planning to begin using next year on it's possibly the Tesla Model Y Juniper maybe also the Model 2.
The problem that every EV driver currently faces is that electric vehicle tires can wear up to 20% faster than tires on internal combustion cars, and it can cost you from $1,000 to $2,000 just for changing tires every year. As many reports point out recently, Tesla is set to incorporate a new tire technology into their Tesla Model Y Juniper and Model 2 starting next year to address that. The question is: What is the name of this new technology? How can Tesla address all the issues associated, such as reduced operating range and loss of balance, using this new tire technology? Let’s delve into further detail in today’s video.

What on Earth is this kind of technology?
Here is the context. Michelin, one of the world’s largest tire manufacturers, recently confirmed in an interview with its CEO, Florent Menegaux, that it has started discussions about testing its Uptis airless tire technology on Tesla vehicles. Previously, Michelin has been testing the Uptis tires on the Chevy Bolt and has also engaged in talks with GM for use on their EVs.

So, what makes Uptis tires so attractive to automakers? Uptis, or U-P-T-I-S which stands for Unique Puncture-Proof Tire System, represents a significant advancement in tire technology thanks to its distinctive material composition and design. Utilizing the strength of a unique composite with a rubber tread bonded to it, Uptis features an inner network of flexible spokes that bend and flex as required by road conditions and car weight. As the tire rolls forward, it naturally flexes down and around small obstacles, offering greater flexibility than standard air-filled tires. Additionally, Uptis tires are uniquely puncture-proof since there is no air to be lost if the tire rolls over a sharp object. Michelin expects Uptis tires to last about three times longer than conventional tires, reducing tire waste and lowering emissions from tread wear, thus contributing to more sustainable practices by minimizing the number of tires sent to scrap yards. And just imagine how much money you could save in a year with this technology, as you no longer have to worry about tire replacements.
