Playing Demo: Gibson Les Paul Spotlight Guitar 2008...
The spotlight special will always be my favorite Les Paul model. There is something just so cool and mysterious about it. I remember the first time I saw the reissued version, I hated it! I still think it is ugly as they didn't get the binding right and the center walnut strip is too wide - but I have grown to love the quirkiness of the reissue. Sure, it's ugly (as compared to the original design) but maybe Gibson botched the reissue on purpose? What good is it if you just make an exact replica? The initial prototype for this reissue run DID have the correct 2" centerpiece strip so Gibson did decide to change it for the production run.
Anyways, it's an interesting guitar. I'd love to document one in the future - but one of these in the collection would be good enough for me!
