To give a vibrant look to the state capital ahead of the Men’s Hockey World Cup-2023, the Bhubaneswar Development Authority(BDA) came up with a unique plan to light up eight important stretches with a colour scheme based on hockey.
The development authority issued an RFP inviting agencies to execute the project. “The lighting system is temporary. The agency arranged the lighting system in the eight selected stretches. It is installed with a look and feel theme to make the city look
move vibrant and lively during the world cup.
The agency installed various components of lighting such as colour LED Lights, floodlights, LED strip lights, LED rice lights and also the applique lamp shades.
The eight stretches with lighting are Airport Square to AG Square, AG Square to Kalpana Square, AG Square to Governor House Square, Governor House Square to the World Traffic, Jaydev Vihar Square to Kalinga Hospital Square, Madhusudan Marg between Housing Board Square to Ram Mandir Square, Janpath and Hotel Crown to Jaydev Vihar.
“The lighting system came up three days before the hockey world cup. The agency selected for the project installed, operated and maintained the lighting system till it is in place. Since the lighting system is temporary in nature, the agency will take it down after the hockey world cup,” a development authority official said.
