This video shows how to configure & create PI Points (PI Tags) to collect data from an OPC Server through the PI Interface for OPC DA (PI OPC Interface) with PI System Management Tools (PI SMT) Point Builder or PI Builder using the PI OPC Client Tool export.
[00:21] Identify the PI Interface for OPC DA is configured and running, but no PI Points created yet
[00:46] Security required to create PI Points- write access to PIPOINT Table
[00:57] Check necessary configuration items in PI OPC Client Tool and PI Interface Configuration Utility (PI ICU)
[02:01]Configure a single PI Point using PI SMT
[02:08] 1. General tab configuration
[04:20] 2. Archive tab configuration
[04:58] 3. Classic tab configuration
[08:52] 4. Security tab configuration
[10:08] Confirm PI Point is picked up by the PI Interface and is receiving current data
[11:01] Configure PI Point list using PI OPC Client Tool export
[11:14] Select data items and generate Taglist.csv file
[12:39] Open Taglist.csv in Excel with PI Builder add-in enabled
[13:26] Change Point Source, Location codes, and Data Security columns in Excel and create new PI Points
[15:03] Confirm the new PI Points are picked up by the PI Interface and receiving current data
