A single pole switch refers to the type of switch you have when it is the only switch that turns the light on or off. And you need to replace it with a Single pole dimmer,
Now, many homes have lights that can be turned on or off by a switch located in same room and also by another switch located in another part of the house. For example, I can turn on my hallway lights from the switch at the front door and the switch at my back door. These use a 3-way switch and so to replace these switches, you will need to purchase a 3-way dimmer, not a single pole dimmer.
Connect the green wire to the copper ground wire.
The electrical wire color convention is that black wire is usually the line wire that gets connected to the black wire coming into the electrical box and the red wire is usually the load wire that gets connected to the black wire going up to the light fixture. With simple on-off light switches, mixing up the line and load wires won't affect the operation. In other words, it doesn’t matter which wire from the light switch gets connected to which black wire in the box. And the same goes for the dimmer.
Sometimes, your dimmer might have 1 green wire and 2 black wires.
Standard dimmer worked perfectly fine for these led light bulbs.
