In May of 2021 I visited the 80+ year old gentleman who has owned this 1981 Mercedes 500 SLC for more than 35 years, since he bought it in Germany and imported it in 1985. Kurt Drews is an old friend of mine from the Twin Cities Section of the MBCA in Bloomington, MN. He's a staple at any MBCA event in the area and always brings out one of several great Mercedes that he owns. This SLC has always been one of my favorites.
During this visit, he tells me the history of this car and how he acquired it, along with some other car stories. He even tells me the 'craziest thing he's ever done.' I took photos, shot some video, we took the car out for a ride, getting it up to about 90 mph with Kurt behind the wheel. All in preparation of the sale of this car which he sold later that year, maybe in 2022, I can't remember.

This is the only way to verify miles on a grey market car and this odometer proves the mileage on this car, at about 63,000 mile is true and correct.

When it was time to bring it down, Kurt worked his way around the car removing the blocks in back and then in front. A little tedious, but demonstrates the meticulous nature of this career aircraft mechanic (Northwest Airlines).
