Water damage repair Samsung 46 inch

When an LCD  TV front glass is cleaned with water it can infiltrate between front bezel glass and run onto the PCB connected to the LCD panel. If it stays there traces and component terminals corrode causing picture failures or open connections or even shorted/low impedance ceramic caps.

More often than not the COFs are not defective and replacing the ceramic capacitors with a few hundred nF to a few uF with a rated DC voltage of more than 25 to 50V (just to be on the safe side), repairing the traces etc solves the problem.

In some cases the T-con shuts down because of overcurrent and/or some fault detection.

Saved a couple of TVs this way that were on their way to the graveyard.
