Systematic Desensitization of Yearlings

Horses are prey animals and their natural response to potential predators is to run. Horses are precocious species so their senses are highly developed at birth in order to detect potential threats. Thus, if a foal isn’t imprinted at birth to certain stimuli and to the people they work with they’ll be skittish later in life till desensitized. As general learners, you’ll need to get them use to stimuli in various environments with various people. Through systematic desensitization, you can take a yearling that hasn’t been imprinted and get them use to stimuli as seen in this video.
