How To Grow An Avocado From Seed! In this video, I'll show you step by step how to take a store-bought Avocado fruit and grow a brand new Avocado plant from the large seed inside.
Originally from Puebla, Mexico, this large, distinct fruit is the main ingredient in Guacamole. It can be quite a large plant, and it is most definitely tropical. So for most of us, it will have to be grown indoors.
The process is quite simple, but it can take some time. It involves simply taking the nut from inside the Avocado fruit, cleaning it of both Avocado meat as well as the brown layer of skin. Then we stick toothpicks in it and suspend it/submerge it in a jar of water. Sprouting can take up to 3 months, after which the plant itself grows quite quickly.
This is a great indoor growing project to do with kids and another great way for indoor gardeners to beat the winter blues and continue growing and producing inside.
If you're just starting out gardening in 2020, this inexpensive set of tools from Amazon can get you and your young plants up and running this spring!
