If you accidentally sent money
If you accidentally sent money to the wrong UPI ID, what can you do?
Here's everything you can do:
1. Contact the receiver and ask them to return your money. By doing this, you might be able to get your money back. However, if this doesn't work, there is a second option:
2. Seek assistance from your bank - When you make a UPI payment, you receive an SMS that contains a toll-free number. You can call this number to raise a complaint. Additionally, there is a dedicated complaint number for UPI transactions. After doing this, you will need to visit your bank and submit a written request to have your money reversed. This process may require some effort, but it increases your chances of getting your money back.
3. The third option is to file a complaint on the NPCI portal - Go to NPCI.org.in, log in, click on the "Get in touch" tab, and then select the "UPI complaint" tab. Inside the transaction section, click on "Incorrectly transferred to another account." Fill out all the required details accurately in the form, and you should receive your money back within a few days.
4. If, despite trying the above steps, you still don't get your money back, you can file a complaint with the Banking Ombudsman on bankingombudsman.rbi.org.
