The Special Economic Zone Authority
The Special Economic Zone Authority (SEZA) holds the exclusive mandate for establishing Special Economic Zones within Papua New Guinea.
This firm stance by the SEZA Board comes as a response to certain districts and provinces considering alternative routes, such as proposing a Private Member's Bill in Parliament, to independently establish their own Special Economic Zones.
During an insightful press conference held on Wednesday, August 2, 2023, SEZA Board Chairman, Mr. Varigini Badira, along with Deputy Chairman Dr. Lawrence Sause and esteemed Board Member Mr. Vera Raga, reiterated the Authority's sole authority in this matter.
