In this video I have explained biochemistry of blood grouping. Different types of blood groups are based on the type of antigens present over the cell membranes. Most commonly we use red blood cells to identify blood group antigens and determine to which blood group a person belongs. Blood group antigens or blood group substances are carbohydrate antigen attached to ceramide over a cell membrane. Expression of specific glycosyltransferases will determine the type of blood group antigen over the cell surface.
