How to test Whirlpool Refrigerator Temperature Sensor Thermistor

Step-by-Step instructions on how to test the Thermistor Temperature Sensor on a Whirlpool, Maytag, Amana, Kitchen Aid, or Jenn Air refrigerator. The thermistors measure the air temperature inside the refrigerator and freezer compartments.  The temperature from the sensor is communicated to the main control board where it will then use that information to properly control the cooling cycles.  If the thermistor fails, it can cause the refrigerator or freezer sections to not cool properly.

If you discover that you have a bad Thermistor and need to replace it, you can either replace the thermistor by itself and splice the wiring or replace it as part of the damper assembly or evaporator fan motor assembly.
