"They stormed the camp at 4am and bulldozers began to demolish the main streets. After that, they positioned snipers throughout the entire area. Then, they blew up some houses. My cousin's house was destroyed, as well as my father's house behind it. They demolished the houses for no reason, even when no one was inside them."

15. SOUNDBITE (Arabic) Adnan Jabber, resident Nur Shams refugee camp resident:
"My uncle's family and my father's family were not in the house - I mean they did not blow them up with people wanted inside these homes. This is because people know the army has become ruthless in its conduct, so every time they (army) storm the area, the residents flee their homes. And each incursion is more difficult than the one that precedes it. So the residents run (from their homes) because the children and people are afraid. Therefore, (when the army came), the homes were empty of residents. The army then placed explosives in these houses and blew them up."

STORYLINE:
Palestinian health officials said on Monday a woman and a teenager were shot and killed by Israeli forces in the occupied West Bank.

The Palestinian Health Ministry said another four people were wounded during Monday’s raid in the northern West Bank town of Tulkarem.

Israeli forces have carried out near-daily arrest raids across the West Bank since Hamas’ Oct. 7 attack out of Gaza ignited the war there.

The Palestinian Health Ministry has said over 550 Palestinians have been killed by Israeli fire in the West Bank since then.

Most have been killed during Israeli raids or violent protests.

"They stormed the camp at 4am and bulldozers began to demolish the main streets. After that, they positioned snipers throughout the entire area," said Adnan Jabber, a resident of Nur Shams refugee camp.

"They blew up the houses for no reason, even when no one was inside them," he added.

Israel captured the West Bank, along with Gaza and east Jerusalem, in the 1967 Mideast war.

The Palestinians want all three territories for their future state.

Israel has built scores of settlements across the West Bank that are now home to over 500,000 Jewish settlers.

The settlers have Israeli citizenship, while the 3 million Palestinians in the West Bank live under seemingly open-ended Israeli military rule.
