This is Godsworn, a real time strategy game with base building in a mythological setting similar to Age of Mythology but with hero units like those in Warcraft. It is an Indie project which now has a Demo on Steam. It will feature a full campaign and several multiplayer modes, at least two factions, many heroes to choose from and co-op gameplay.

Godsworn will feature a campaign which can be played cooperatively but also other game modes like skirmish and challenges, one of which I am going to show and talk about now. Link to the Steam store page, demo and discord channel are in the description below as are links to my list of many more upcoming RTS games like this one.

This game mode is a challenge to survive against 10 waves of enemies and it can be played cooperatively, with up to three players. Here you start with just your hero, a few worshipers and your main shrine.

There are a number of available buildings to construct, a mix of resource collection, defensive towers and unit production. About what you are used to from games like Age of Empire, Mythology, Empire Earth or Rise of Nations. Meaning resource collection gameplay is much closer to such games rather than Warcraft, StarCraft or Command and Conquer, as we have foresters, food gatherers and miners which are the core economy for your base.

There are some static enemy units spread across the map which you can engage while you get to unlock Devine skills for your hero and faction on different levels. There is some choice and you can not always get all the skills. Once you defeat those enemy units you free trapped villagers to become your new worshippers / workers.

The population limit is raised by building dwellings, homes in other words and there aren’t too many other resources besides wood, food and wealth. There is slowly accumulating faith, generated by worshipers praying at the shrine or collected on the map.

You do have some control over worker slots and can pick which ones you want to focus by adding or removing extra workers in each production building.

Another reason to clear out the static enemies is to get to new resource deposits scattered around the map. And you can see lots of them already if we zoom into the mini map over to the bottom left corner.

Once your hero acquires enough XP points they level up letting you unlock another new divine skill. Unit training is a slow process at the start as you are probably used to in similar games but it revs up considerably as you have more unit production buildings.

This is where the first enemy wave comes along and once it reaches your main base you have to defend with anyone you have managed to recruit by then. Units have different speed, armor and weapon damage while the main shrine will summon arrows to help your defenders out.
