This is an example of how S14 produces artifacts on 2D transitions.
The first two scenes are full screen, with a fade in, then a dissolve, and a fade out.
The third scene shows how the exact same two clips has been used in a split screen, with a fade in/out. Notice the artifacts produced in the sky on both left/right picture.
I've included a screen shot of my project, and also my Video and Audio preferences to show that I have hardware acceleration activated, also background rendering is activated.
The artifacts does not show up while rendering, only on the final output. It was rendered using MPEG-2 TS/AVCHD (HDD), but I've tried other exports with the same result.

SOLVED: If I activate 'Enable full-resolution preview' and set background rendering to 'MPEG-2: best for output to disc', and let the background render complete, the artifacts disappear.
