Hello!
Nice that you have a look! Today I'm playing one of the classics by one of my greatest guitar idols, Mark Knopfer, namely the song "Sultans Of Swing" by Dire Straits, first released on the band's debut album in 1978. With ".012-.053" strings on an acoustic guitar and without a backing band, it's quite a challenge and I almost broke my fingers doing it. I also made a mistake during the recording because of a mistake when stepping on a guitar pedal, but I just wanted to leave it in there to show you that everything doesn't always have to be perfect, but that the focus should be on having fun making music! But maybe that was also because of Corona, because at the moment I'm still under quarantine and I don't feel fully healthy yet, but I still wanted to record my weekly video for you! I hope you like it!?
This video is the fourteenth in my YouTube series called "A Couple Of Songs I Wish I Had Written Myself", in which I would like to introduce you to one of my favorite songs every week. And I play the whole thing exactly the same way I usually do it "live on stage": In addition to my good old Maton Guitar, I use my Neumann microphone, my Schmidt Array Pedalboard with Empress Reverb and my Cromacord amplifier.
Have fun watching and feel free to use the available subtitles in German or English to sing along or to understand what the song is about.

Schön, dass Ihr reinschaut! Heute spiele ich einen der Klassiker von einem meiner ganz großen Gitarren-Idole Mark Knopfer und zwar den Song „Sultans Of Swing“ von den Dire Straits, erschienen erstmals 1978 auf dem Debut-Album der Band. Mit „.012-.053er“ Saiten auf einer Akustik-Gitarre und auch noch ohne Begleitband ist das eine ganz schöne Herausforderung und ich habe mir dabei echt fast die Finger gebrochen. Außerdem habe ich mich während der Aufnahme wegen eines Fehlers beim Treten auf ein Gitarrenpedal auch mal verspielt, wollte das aber einfach drin lassen um Euch zu zeigen, dass nicht immer alles perfekt sein muss, sondern der Spaß beim Musizieren im Vordergrund stehen sollte! Vielleicht lag das aber auch an Corona, denn im Moment stehe ich noch unter Quarantäne und bin noch nicht wieder ganz auf der Höhe, wollte aber trotzdem mein wöchentliches Video für Euch aufnehmen! Ich hoffe, Euch gefällt’s!?
Dieses Video ist das vierzehnte in meiner YouTube-Reihe „Einige Songs, die ich gern selbst geschrieben hätte“, in der ich wöchentlich einen weiteren meiner Lieblingssongs vorstelle. Und das Ganze spiele ich genau so, wie ich das auch sonst "live on stage" mache: Neben meiner guten alten Maton Gitarre benutze ich dafür mein Neumann Mikrofon, mein Schmidt Array Pedalboard mit Empress Reverb sowie meinen Cromacord-Verstärker.
Viel Spaß beim Anschauen und nutzt gern die verfügbaren Untertitel in Deutsch und Englisch, um mitzusingen und zu verstehen, von was der Song erzählt.
