To begin with, I'll have a brief explanation of the type of player I am when it comes to souls games:  I'm the sort who will methodically clear and search every area, clear every enemy, and ensure that I've looted and seen everything the game has to offer, missing as little as humanly possible.  On top of that, I've done every major souls game and boss with no damage, melee only focused, while also avoiding leveling and trying to keep myself on par as much as possible with fights where I can.  That's the goal I've stuck to with every souls or soulslike I've played.  Lords of the Fallen was the first game to ever make me ignore that completely, and ultimately it ended up as a very poor and unenjoyable playing experience overall.

The reasons for the above are many, but to sum it up as best I can: Enemy density and exploration is nothing but tedious, particularly in the later stages of the game.  Every section of the map is filled with elites, countless smaller enemies, and often multiple ranged enemies to deal with.  While I've always enjoyed a challenge, tedium does not equate to that.  Exploration as a result feels extremely drawn out, and ultimately unrewarding.  It feels like the goal was to catch out players at every chance, which is shown by the amount of hidden enemies and enemies appearing at a distance.  The goal should be to challenge and engage, not to use cheap tactics which become exhausting.

Secondly, the combat and lock-on system is by far the worst I've ever felt in any soulslike I've played.  There's no priority of proximity for the lock-on, so there's many situations where you'll expect to lock-on to the target in front of you, only to randomly target something 30m in the distance.  It's so wildly inconsistent I just expect it not to work most of the time and target something different.  There's a delay as to how soon you can lock-on to a new target appearing on screen, which adds to this.  It also feels like locking-on actively works against you on many boss encounters, causing unpredictable movement and weird tracking through the side-step it causes.  I've never played a game where I'm locked onto a target, expect to dodge behind the enemy, only for it to loop around and end up back in front of them.  It's bizarre.

Furthering to the combat, the boss fights felt absolutely trivial and easy throughout all stages of the game to me.  Every boss early on felt like I was completely over-leveled for, with every attack being extremely easy to predict and dodge.  It was about 10 bosses in that I just gave up on all my self-imposed rules of trying to balance the game out, and just embraced being over powered and using spells.

Finally, the performance.  In my playthrough I encountered at least 50+ crashes.  Endless audio glitches, constant frame-rate issues and stutters, enemies not behaving correctly, certain bosses and AI just completely stopping to work.  I even lost a save file (which thankfully, I had backups).  It was an absolute disaster in my experience.  While I've heard of others having a better time, I can only comment on my own playthrough, which was abysmal.

Ultimately, despite all of that, I can see other people enjoying this game.  While I didn't enjoy it, I'm not going to absolutely recommend against it.  Even with all the flaws, there could be fun for people to have if they're looking for another soulslike to fill the time.  Or at the very least, wait for patches.
