Video tutorial on how to remove/polish scratches from paint on your vehicle. This can be done by hand or by a buffing machine. When using a buffing machine, you will need to take extra care, especially if you are new to using a buffing machine. With the use of a buffing machine, you can risk damage the paint finish such as creating swirl marks, burning through the clear coat, or burning full through the paint. Do not hold the buffer in one spot for long periods of time and be cautious around edges. General rule of thumb, if you are able to feel the scratch with your nail, this scratch most likely won’t be removed. Although the scratch maybe be lightened up. The products used in this video car be purchased online, automotive parts suppliers, hardware stores, etc. This particular tutorial was done on a 2004 Volkswagen Golf.

-ensure the vehicle is dry, with no water hiding behind any panel gaps
-apply the polishing compound to the lint free cloth and work it into the surface applying light to medium pressure
-if you find the polishing compound has dried, use the spray bottle with water to moisturize the product, then continue polishing
-once satisfied, move onto the swirl and scratch remover
-apply the swirl and scratch remover to a clean lint free cloth, then work it into the surface
-again if the product dries out, apply a mist of water to moisturize the product
-once satisfied, ensure the area is clean and free of any polishing compound or swirl and scratch remover
-use the wax applicator pad to apply a wax of your choice
-the wax is needed to protect the bare paint surface
-apply the wax on the area, working it into the paint
-allow it to haze over
-use a microfiber cloth to remove the wax and buff the area
-you may need to apply wax to the full panel so the newly polished surface blends in better with the rest of the vehicle
