In this video I discuss how to find and hire a professional genealogist. Some reasons to hire a professional genealogist are their expertise in genealogy, their geography to certain archives or locations, and time saved. If you want to hire a professional genealogist then you will first want to identify your research question, being as coherent and specific in your goal for the genealogy research.
Some places you can find directories of genealogists include fiverr.com, APGen.org, ICAPGen.org, BCGcertification.org, Ancestry.com, and Genealogists.com. Costs can range anywhere from $25 to $125 depending on many different factors and you may also be charged for fees incurred to conduct research. Results for family history research can never be guaranteed but you should always expect a final report written using the Genealogical Proof Standard.
