Crystal Radio Sets from 1920s & 1930s

The video shows a number of crystal radios from the 1920s and 1930s focussing in on the chief components visible. It shows the cat's whisker crystal detector, timing capacitor and connections and the video provides a number of the circuits that were used for these crystal radios. It also shows how replacement crystals were bought and the crystal detector tins in which they were supplied showing how they were advertised.

Although these crystal radio detectors are now out of date, there is a considerable interest in seeing how crystal radios worked and also in seeing these antique radios themselves. There is a large number of these vintage radios available today, and many have an interest in seeing them.
