40 Years in 40 DAYS – A personal journey in search of a Painless Body & Prayerful Mind by Mahankirn
In 40 Days I will turn 40 on June 11th - and I have surprised myself that I am so excited. This is for you if you have already turned 40, wish you were turning 40, or have not yet turned 40.
After 40 years, I firmly believe and have experienced that you and I are already perfect, already enlightened, only we are distracted. Our level of distraction depends on the moment of the mind, the drama, trauma or chaos in this world event called life. For me the distractions have been many.
I invite you on this journey I am taking within myself, to remember who I already am, and for you to remember who you already are. There is nothing more perfect than you or more perfect out side of you. The moment you stop to look and stop searching for something better to happen, the Universe comes to support you and serve you and will give you more love, opportunity, and abundance than you could ever chase after.
I have had a full and vibrant life – in no particular order - I was born into a Kundalini Yoga family and started doing yoga before I could walk. I went to boarding school at 8 years old to India. I have jumped out of airplanes, been paralyzed from running on the beach and thereafter my best hope was shopping for more comfortable wheel chairs, left on the side of the road for dead when hit by a bus in India, fallen in love, got married, had a child, got divorced, felt enlightened, considered suicide, loved myself, hated myself, had severe depression, passed CPA exams, Masters’ degree in accounting, wrote a book, wrote another book, now writing my 3rd book, created yoga apps, had chronic lymes disease for 3 years with exploding head pain 14 hours a day, traveled the world first class, traveled 3rd class sleeper slum class in India, went to school in foot hills of Himalayas, went to military school, was the Senior Financial officer for 14 corporations, was Yogi Bhajan’s personal healer for 10 years, had several tape worms and every other parasite known to man, was told i would never walk again, healed myself with Mah BOUNDLOTUS®, taught tens of thousands of students yoga, healed hundreds of clients using Sat Nam Rasayan® healing around the world, created a non-profit organization, had a Kundalini awakening experience, was foreclosed on my home, was on the rowing, cross country, volleyball, basketball and swim teams, had a pressure cooker explode in my face, and my house burned down and I lost everything. There may be a few more things I have forgotten but more of that later.
I was either living in a victim mentality or thought I was special from the circumstances mentioned above. I have finally almost dropped it all and I have realized that I have learned nothing but I have experienced the depths of my self and the infinite experience of merging. I am starting to finally just BE ME. The good, the bad, the ugly is all a part of life but it does not define me.
I am so excited to turn 40 – I am doing this for me, to remember – and sharing it with you as perhaps you will share it with someone you love and who needs a little reminder that they are imperfectly perfect and perfectly imperfect.
Take a moment – take a breath – and sit with your self inside yourself – Forget everything you need to do and everything you want to be and not be.
MEDITATION Inspired by Yogi Bhajan
OPEN THE NEWNESS WITHIN YOU – Try it daily for the next week!
Part 1. Sit straight in a cross-legged position. Raise both hands at shoulder level, with the elbows relaxed down. Point the index and middle fingers up and use the thumb to hold down the other two. Eyes are closed. Rhythmically spread your index and middle fingers open and closed. Continue for 11 minutes.
Part 2. Continue the movement. Form an “o” with the mouth and breathe powerfully through it, pumping the navel in rhythm with your breath. Continue for 2 1/2 minutes. To end, inhale deeply, hold, and pull the navel towards the spine. Cannon Fire Exhale. Repeat 2 more times. Relax.
I do this when I feel like life is mundane or a bit boring, or if my perspective feels stuck. This will help you to feel fresh, your brain to be balanced and will open up the freshness of the infinite possibilities within you and around you.
