WHAT IS 3D FORMULA/REFERENCE IN EXCEL?
3D Formula is mainly the excel cell reference features or dimensional reference which brings great user experience
3D Formula/Reference in Excel refers to the same cell or range of cells on multiple worksheets with different data. It is a very suitable and fast way to calculate data across numerous worksheets with the same arrangement & it may be a good substitute to the Excel Consolidate piece. This may sound a bit indefinite, but don't burden.
Excel 3D reference lets refer to one or more cells in some worksheets. In other hand, it references not only a range of cells, but also a range of worksheet. The key point is that all of the referenced sheets should have the same outline and the same data category.
HOW TO CREATE A 3-D REFERENCE IN EXCEL
If you want to make a formula with a 3D reference in the argument, you have to perform the following steps:
Step-1: Click the cell where you want to enter your 3D formula.
Step-2: Type a equal sign (=) then enter the function name and type an opening parenthesis e.g. =SUM(
Step-3: Then click the tab of the first worksheet where you want to include in a 3D reference/Formula.
Step-4: Holding the Shift key and click the tab of the last worksheet to be included in your 3D reference/Formula.
Step-5: Select the cell or range of cells that you want to calculate or decide to calculate it.
Step-6: Press Enter key to complete Excel 3-D formula/Reference.
HOW TO INCLUDE A NEW SHEET IN AN EXCEL 3D FORMULA
3D reference/Formula in Excel is always extendable. What it means is that you can always create a 3-D reference/Formula at some point, then insert a new worksheet & move it into the range that your 3-D formula refers where.
HOW TO CREATE A NAME FOR AN EXCEL 3-D REFERENCE
To make it even easier and to use 3D formulas in Excel, you can able to create a defined name for your 3D reference.
Step-1: Over the Formulas tab, go to the Defined Names group then click Define Name.
Step-2: In the New Name dialog, type some Data and write a name that you want in the Name box, within 255 characters in extent.
Step-3: Delete the contents of the Refers to box, then enter a 3D reference/Formula there in the following style:
Write a = (equal sign).
Hold Shift Key, click the tab of the first sheet you want to reference, then click the last sheet.
Step-4: Select cells or range of cells to be referenced that you want. You can also reference an entire column by clicking the column letter on the sheet where located.
