This is an optional "sidequest" you can do in Madain Sari. I actually never knew about this until I read about it a few days ago in a great guide written by YSF. The guide is located here: http://www.gamefaqs.com/ps/197338-fin...
Basically this is something optional you can do to learn about Garnet's past, as well as a little history on Madain Sari. One thing to note is Garnet's real name is Sarah.
