Beatmatching is an essential key in DJ’ing, and mastering it is not easy. It’ll take a lot of time and practice to get it right.
But in my experience of practicing beat matching I’ve developed a clear strategy into mastering it really quickly.

Now this method is pretty simple, and magical at the same time.
You can do this practice with any software and DJ equipment. Because all you really need is one song and a good pair of ears.
Now the beat I’m gonna use for this tutorial is available for download in the description and comment section down below, but technically you can any song with a beat.
So the secret is this:
We play the same song on each deck at the same bpm, and we try to get these two songs to be perfectly in sync with each other and we do this by either pushing or pulling the jog wheel forward or backward.
Now, how do know if we’re perfectly in sync?
Well, you will hear a “phase” effect go on in the mix. And training your ears to identify that is key and the secret into getting good in beat matching, because it’ll force you to get used to moving the jog wheel carefully and accurately forward or backward to reach that effect.
Now you can only hear this effect by using the same song, but the training will still apply in application.
Your ear will be better accustomed to hearing the beats and identifying if you’re in sync, and your hands and ears will work better together into jog wheeling the two songs together.
First we’ll load up the song to each deck, then we’ll play deck 1, then we’ll attempt to play deck 2 at the same time when deck 1’s beat hits the 1. Then we’ll either move the jog wheel forward or backward to reach that “phase” effect moment”.
Keep in mind, that if our beat matching goes horribly wrong, just stop deck 2 and try again to play it when once deck 1’s beat hits the 1.
The key is too not panic. Even if things seem grim in the mix, there is always a way to beat match if your bpm is the same. Don’t give up. Either jog wheel forward or backward or just restart.
