This is the documentary done by WHDH TV that aired in November 1967 about the historic '67 Boston Red Sox season, in which the team beat 100-1 odds and won the American League pennant on the last day of the season. It captures the goings-on perfectly, comprehensive and lyrical, thanks to the beautiful writing of John Connelly.
Most Valuable Player Carl Yastrzemski, Cy Young Award winner Jim Lonborg, homer hitting-heartthrob Tony Conigliaro, manager Dick Williams, et al ... went from half-game out of the cellar to win the pennant ... and came back from a 3-games-to-1 deficit to almost win the World Series against the Cardinals in a Game 7 at Fenway Park.
Yaz and the Sox thrilled a city, a region, and a nation during the Summer of Love as they brought baseball back in Boston, creating memories that will never be forgotten. My favorite team of all-time!
This is the third Impossible Dream tribute I've posted (NESN/The Sports Museum 2007; MLB Network 2017), and they're all excellent. They each have different talking heads, and video clips, which is why I wanted them all up.
Hadn't found this one on one file on YouTube; this is off the best copy I have.
Copyright, Major League Baseball or any other party. I didn't create, don't claim the rights to, and don't profit from, this video. I just posted it for historical and educational purposes, and for those who will enjoy it as much as I still do!
