Weekly Vlog| Service Dog’s Gotcha Day, Missing Package, new couch delivery!

Who rescued who could not be more true for Sebastian and I. Happy gotcha day buddy!

2 years ago today I met Sebastian and took over his training as a service dog. I knew I couldn’t afford a program dog, so my options were no service dog, or train my own. I posted in a local rehoming facebook group looking for goldens, labs, or shepherds for service work… I knew it was a long shot and almost took the post down, but decided to keep it up. At midnight on my 22nd birthday, I got a message about a partially trained German shepherd that is mine if I want him.

The first picture and some of the first clips in this video are some of the first things I saw of Sebastian. 2 years ago today, I met his previous owner at one of his favorite dog parks in Knoxville. I got to see his goofy personality, his love of water/swimming, and how much he loved to play. Sebastian kept coming up to me like he had always known me and I instantly fell in love. After the park, we went to Home Depot to see if he would take basic commands from me.

Before Sebastian, I was fainting multiple times a day, couldn’t leave my house, wasn’t allowed to drive, and felt like my life was over. I know he’s a rescue, but he really did rescue me. I had just dropped out of nursing school, my mental health was in the drain, but so knew Sebastian and I had a lot of work to do so a few days after picking him up, we started training and have shared every step along the way with you all.  He’s given me my life, my freedom, and so much back.

I can’t tell you who rescued who, but I am so thankful that 2 years ago Sebastian came into my life. I couldn’t imagine life without him, so of course we had to celebrate with a beach day!
