صاحب السمو الملكي الأمير علي بن الحسين ولد في ٣٢ ديسمبر ١٩٧٥ لصاحبي الجلالة المغفور لهما الملك الحسين والملكة علياء. بدأ سموه دراسته الابتدائية في الكلية العلمية الإسلامية في عمّان وتابعها في المملكة المتحدة والولايات المتحدة، حيث تخرّج من مدرسة “ساليسبوري” في ولاية كوناكتيكوت في الولايات المتحدة الأميركية في العام ١٩٩٣، وتميّز سموه هناك في رياضة المصارعة. في عام ١٩٩٩، تمّ تعيين الأمير علي قائداً للأمن الخاص لجلالة الملك في الحرس الملكي. وقد عمل بهذه الصفة حتى ٢٨ يناير ٢٠٠٨ ، عندما عهد إليه جلالة الملك عبدالله الثاني إنشاء وإدارة المركز الوطني للأمن وإدارة الأزمات. وهو يحمل الأن رتبة لواء في القوات المسلّحة الأردنية.
في عام ١٩٩٩ ، أصبح رئيس الاتحاد الأردني لكرة القدم ، وأسّس اتحاد غرب آسيا لكرة القدم في عام ٢٠٠٠. تم انتخابه نائباً لرئيس FIFA يمثل آسيا لمدة ٤ سنوات في عام ٢٠١١. حالياً الأمير علي هو رئيس مجلس إدارة الهيئة الملكية للأفلام منذ تأسيسها عام ٢٠٠٣ وبرنامج تطوير كرة القدم التابع للاتحاد.
تزوج صاحب السمو الملكي ابنة الدبلوماسي الجزائري المخضرم الأخضر الإبراهيمي، ريم، في ٧ سبتمبر ٢٠٠٤. وللزوجين الملكيين ابنة الأميرة جليلة والأمير عبد الله.
HRH Prince Ali bin Hussein was born in Amman on December 23, 1975 to His late Majesty King Hussein and Her late Majesty Queen Alia. He began his primary education at the Islamic Educational College in Amman and continued his studies in the United Kingdom and the United States, where he graduated from Salisbury School in Connecticut in 1993. It is then where he excelled in the sport of wrestling. In 1999, Prince Ali was appointed as commander of His Majesty’s Special Security in the Royal Guards. He served in that capacity until 28 January 2008, when His Majesty King Abdullah II entrusted him with the duty of establishing and directing a National Centre for Security and Crisis Management. He holds the rank of Major General in the Jordanian Armed Forces.
In 1999, he became the President of the Jordan Football Association, and established the West Asian Football Federation in 2000. In 2011, he was elected FIFA Vice President representing Asia for a term of 4 years. Prince Ali is the Chairman of the Board of the Royal Film Commission, since its establishment in 2003 and the Association Football Development Programme (AFDP Global).
His Royal Highness married Rym Brahimi, daughter of veteran UN and Algerian diplomat Lakhdar Brahimi, on 7 September 2004. The Royal Couple has a daughter, Princess Jalila, and a son, Prince Abdullah.
