Hailing from The Netherlands, Manu Zain contributes yet another mesmerizing release to Silk Music with "Entrainment Pt. 1." Each track is an invitation to wonder and reflect, entrancing us with delicate textures, sublime melodies, and profound atmosphere that is full of both yearning and joy.
As the first track of Manu Zain's EP, "Entrainment Pt. 1," "Stay Close" (feat. Patrick Baker) envelopes listeners and compels us to enter another world. Patrick Baker's vocals lilt upon a minimal backdrop of echoing drums and atmospheric pads, progressing through a spectrum of tones and emotions that are equal parts melancholic and consoling. "Ocean Drive" opens with harmonic synths, subdued arpeggiators and choral pads that frame the track as blissful departure from the ordinary. It's made all the more uplifting when Manu Zain seamlessly introduces a four-on-the-floor rhythm that drives the euphoric sounds to ever greater heights. "Will You Be There" sets its sights beyond the horizon as delicate bells, angelic synth layers and the organic chords of an acoustic guitar fill the listener with wonder. To conclude part one of his "Entrainment" release, Manu Zain constructs a serene environment full of texture and melody with "Berlin." Relying only on the dynamics of composition and atmosphere, the track offers a restorative intermission not only from the uplifting rhythms found elsewhere in the EP, but also between the world we know and the one that Manu Zain is revealing.
We already look forward to hearing where Manu Zain takes us in "Entrainment Pt. 2" when it releases later this year.
