Manakeesh are a very popular breakfast food based in the Levantine region of the Middle-East, its dough is usually made from flour, water, yeast, and olive oil, and is then rolled out and topped with a mixture of za'atar ( a blend of herbs and spices ), cheese, or ground meat. The bread is then baked on a Saj (metal-made cooking utensil) until it is crispy and golden brown.
Manakish is known for its delicious flavor and versatilit, Most often, Manakeesh are made the size of a personal pan pizza and folded in half like a sandwich for easy consumption.
While there are many different varieties, za’atar and cheese are the most well-known manakeesh. In Lebanon Syria and Palastine, Manakeesh are known as the go-to breakfast.
