We fly from Auckland to Chicago with Air New Zealand, on their Economy Skycouch product. But first, we check out Auckland International Airport, including the handful of shops before security. We also have a brief lunch at the Novotel Auckland Airport which I wouldn't recommend - who puts Feta on a Margherita pizza? We also briefly visited the Koru Lounge which I'd rate as one of the best normal airline lounges in the world.
The Economy Skycouch is a great product. We bid $400 CAD to upgrade from Economy, and Air New Zealand are quite strict at stopping passengers moving from Economy to Economy Skycouch rows after take off. This means there's a good chance that you'll get a row to yourself if there's space available. This gives you the space to sleep, but still getting the rest of the normal Economy experience, such as food, and toilet space.
And with that, we landed at Chicago O'Hare Airport, and hung out at the far less glamorous United Lounge, with cold vegetables, pasta, and soup. Not flash.
