The curikuri beak or in its scientific name Epimachus fastuosus is a large bird of paradise of the genus Epimachus. This bird has a curved black beak like a crescent and a long tail. Adult male bird is one of the biggest birds among birds of paradise. The males are about 110cm in size, including the tail feathers adorned in blue and purple with pointed tips and very long. The top fur is purplish black, the head and back are blue green, the lower body is black, brown, and purple around the chin and neck, iris is red, the legs are grayish black and the inside of the mouth is bright yellow. On the side of the chest there are fan-like ornate feathers in red, brown and black with rainbow colors. Female birds are smaller than male birds, and have reddish brown feathers, black lower body with a white speck on the back, iris brown eyes and no decorative fan feathers. The Kurikuri beak-crushing area is found in the mountain forests of Irian Island. Like most birds of paradise, the Kurikuri Beak is a species polygamy. The male bird attracts the couple with a dance ritual that showcases its ornamental feathers accompanied by singing. After copulation, the male bird leaves the female and starts looking for another partner. Female birds incubate and care for their own chicks. Kurikuri's Beak-Crescent bird feed consists of fruits and various insects. Based on the continued loss of forest habitat, as well as the population and area where these birds are found to be very limited, the Kurikuri Sickle is evaluated as vulnerable on the IUCN Red List. This species is registered in CITES Appendix
